A road in Spain’s Andalucia collapses due to heavy rainfall

Collapsed Road

A ROAD in the province of Malaga has collapsed due to heavy rainfall.

The MA-3109 road that connects Almachar and El Borge has been closed to traffic since last night, as a part of it has sunk.

The two councils have told their inhabitants to exercise caution when moving around due to both this incident and the lockdown.

They advise people to take an alternative route that connects El Borge with Cutar instead.

This comes after the roads from Benamocarra and Cajiz have experienced landslides.

The rainfall for the period of October 2019 to March 2020, nationwide has been 399 litres per square metre.

That is 8% more than the average for that time of year.

According to the State Meteorological Agency, Malaga hasn’t even experienced two thirds of that expected rainfall during that same period.
