Visitors will have to pay for parking at Hospital Costa del Sol in Spain’s Marbella as conservative Partido Popular rejects bid to keep it free

Hospital Costa del Sol, Marbella

VISITORS to the Hospital Costa del Sol will soon have to pay for parking, it has been confirmed.

The Partido Popular government at Marbella town hall rejected the request from the OSP San Pedro party that it be kept free.

Currently, anyone using the car park can do so without charge or can opt to donate to the NGO which, until last Friday, owned the land it sits on.

Government spokesman Felix Romero said that the car park used to charge visitors to finance works on the site and that going forward the money will now help to maintain it.

It comes after the plot was officially handed back to the Junta de Andalucia last week, a process which began back in 1993.

The area covers almost 50,000sqm and includes an underground and above ground parking area.

The Costa del Sol hospital is the most used of its kind along the coast.
