ROSALIA has won Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album at the Grammys.
The Catalan singer won her first Grammy last night in Los Angeles for her album El Mal Querer.
This was the first time an all-Spanish album won this category.
The 26-year-old also became the first musician from Spain to be nominated for Best New Artist and also the first musician in general to be nominated for an all-Spanish album in that category.
During her acceptance speech she said: “Honestly, it’s such an honour to receive this award. But at the same time, what I’m really more excited about is that tonight I will be able to perform [a] flamenco inspired performance for all of you.
“And that means so much to me. It means so much, it’s like mind-blowing. So thank you for embracing my project and my music with so much love.”
The hip-hop artist had already won four Latin Grammys in 2019, including Album of the Year.
The Barcelona native also performed for the first time at the awards ceremony; first with her new flamenco-powered pop single, titled Juro Que, followed by a fresh hip-hop rendition of her 2018 platinum hit song, Malamente.
