HE may have won numerous trophies in 2019, but now Spain’s top golfer Jon Rahm has won what he wanted most of all – his girlfriend’s hand in marriage.
The 24-year-old tied the knot with American fiancee Kelley Cahill, 25, in a fairytale winter wedding at his childhood church in Bilbao.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Cahill fell for her Basque beau at Arizona State University, where she and Rahm had shacked up after just six months.
The Biology graduate, who was a javelin champ and tennis player, has continued her love of sports by accompanying Rahm to watch his other love, Athletic Bilbao.
At the low-key ceremony of just 80 guests, she swapped her athletics gear for a stunning embroidered floral gown, as she stepped out of a vintage Rolls Royce.
The timeless dress featured a sweetheart neckline and tulle skirt, which she complemented with white platform heels, a simple pendant and pearl bracelets.
Rahm, who last month won his second Race to Dubai and its €5 million purse, looked dashing in navy suit with black lapels.
The world number three’s dream wedding comes after a 2019 in which he was also crowned European Tour Golfer of the Year.
Among Rahm’s nearest and dearest at the bash were his caddy Adam Hayes and the president of the Spanish Golf Federation, Gonzaga Escauriaza.
Speaking on his big day, he joked: “I’m really looking forward to writing all those checks to pay for it.”
He and his new wife enjoyed a reception at Bilbao’s five-star Carlton Hotel, before they were guests of honour at Bilbao’s 0-0 draw with Eibar the next day.
The happy couple, who are based in Arizona are set to return to the US for another wedding in San Diego in April.
