AN INFORMANT has been gunned down while he was spotted conversing with a police officer on a roadside in Barcelona.

The man was killed instantly in the shock shooting on Thursday evening in Llinars del Vallès district of the Catalan capital.

Police sources have confirmed the man was a police informant. He was gunned down by an attacker dressed in black who quickly fled the scene.

The hooded aggressor, 1.70m tall, withdrew a gun and fired at the two men up to eight times.

The police officer was also hit, but survived due to the bullet-proof vest he was wearing.

According to the same sources, the confidant was proving information on criminals from an armed gang dedicated to extortion and kidnappings who used short arms and high-end vehicles.
