COLLAPSE: A gangway fell into the port

STRONG winds that reached up to 74kmph wreaked havoc across Malaga, causing two of the passenger walkways in the port to collapse and fall into the water.

The gangways were partially sunk, with one resting on its end.

The port police acted fast, the area being on yellow alert from the Meteorological Agency for extreme weather that day.

Currently, a damage assessment is being carried out – and the southern gangway is being monitored to ensure it does not succumb to a total collapse.

Ferries that use the route of the affected area are being able to run again.
