MALAGA’S Santa Catalina castle is set to be turned into a five-star hotel.

It comes after the historic site was bought by local hotel chain Soho Boutique alongside an Ecuadorian investment group.

The castle, which had been an events and wedding venue with eight rooms, is set to re-open in February or March next year and will offer 20 rooms.

The refurb is set to cost a cool €7 million.

“The idea is to make this a five star luxury hotel which will be the best in Malaga,” said Soho Boutique in a statement.

The hotel will also have a luxury restaurant open to the public.

Soho Boutique already manages 27 fully operational hotels, with another 16 under development.

The brand also has establishments in Mexico and the United States.
