A MAN has been arrested after brandishing a loaded gun at a hospital in southern Spain.
Policia Nacional officers cuffed the 55-year-old in La Linea after he ‘produced a firearm’ at the town’s Hospital Comarcal.
After the suspect, from San Roque, was detained, a police search of his house revealed a stash of hunting knives, crossbows, harpoons, machetes, antique guns and boxes of ammunition.
Police held the man on illegal weapon charges after he had originally tried to hide the gun, which a spokesperson said was ‘ready for use.’
A probe later revealed the weapon was in fact a replica, but had been modified so that it could be used with live ammunition.
After the discovery, the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit became involved and granted cops two judicial orders to enter the gun enthusiast’s home.
The incident took place at 2:15 pm on September 26.
