THE Spanish government is employing a hundred personnel in the flood-hit Vega Baja region to remove more than 1,400 animals killed by the floods.
The Valencian Minister of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, Gabriela Bravo, reported that a staff of 45 forest firefighters, 8 veterinarians and 42 specially-trained Proteccion Civil volunteers were in action.
They’ve removed 1,450 dead animals so far – mostly sheep and poultry – after locating this cadavers with a drone.
The levels of organic matter and waste in the fields is being controlled to ensure that there are no health problems that could cause diseases.
Bravo insisted it was ‘necessary’ that the affected towns will have the dedicated support from the Generalitat in order to ‘recover’ and, especially, to avoid ‘health concerns’.
