Police arrest 40 people in drugs bust in southern Spanish province of Cadiz

POLICE have arrested 40 people in a string of coordinated drug busts in Cadiz.

Hundreds of law enforcement flooded the coastal city of Sanlucar de Barrameda at around 05:30am today, in a joint operation between the Guardia Civil, the Policia Nacional and customs officers. 

The notorious ringleader of a hashish trafficking operation between Morocco and Spain was arrested nearby.

The mastermind, known locally as Antonio ‘El Tomate,’ was detained in his home in a rural area just outside Sanlucar de Barrameda.

Police previously arrested him in 2011 in the same area.
