Ryanair cancels Spain flights in preparation for September cabin crew strikes

Ryanair strike: Low-cost airline announces 12 new strike days for July—affecting the ten Spanish airports where the airline operates

A NUMBER of Ryanair flights to and from Spain have been cancelled ahead of planned walkouts by Spanish cabin crew.

The airline has revealed six flights on Sunday September 1, and eight flights on Monday September 2 have been cancelled.

Affected customers have been contacted by email and SMS offering them the options to either move their flight free of charge, or be issued a full refund, according to Ryanair.

The budget airline has angered unions after boss Michael O’Leary told staff the company had 900 more pilots and crew than it needed.

Ryanair has threatened to fire 100 pilots in Spain, according to the SEPLA Spanish pilots union.

It comes after the USO and SITCPLA unions announced planned walkouts across 13 bases in Spain.

These strikes are planned for the September 1, 2, 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 and 29.
