POLICE have arrested 73 people as they busted an illegal rave, which erupted into a violent ‘pitched battle’.
Around 200 people confronted cops, while 11 of the 40 officers on the scene were injured at the event in Ibiza.
Guardia Civil and Policia Local agents said they were hit with iron bars and missiles, including rocks.
It came as they broke up the unauthorised party in the early hours of Sunday morning.
One officer apparently even had to fire his gun in the air to stop himself being attacked at the woodland site near Cala Comte in the west of the White Isle.
“When officers arrived to tell them they had to leave and stop the music because it was an illegal party in a protected area, they refused to do so, provoking police and even assaulting them and injuring several,” said Guardia Civil chief Enrique Gomez.
Injuries to police were ‘non-serious’ and were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Meanwhile a Spanish woman, 27, and Italian man, 30, were both hospitalised with broken bones.
Police also seized several ‘dangerous dogs’ at the party and also reported that there were caravans there with foreign plates.
At its height, around 1,000 ravers were believed to have been in the area.
