RYANAIR’S main pilots union in Spain is set to hold a strike ballot in the coming days in response to planned job cuts.
It comes as members of Ryanair’s British pilot union voted to follow Portuguese cabin crew in taking industrial action from August 22.
The budget airline had angered unions after boss Michael O’Leary told staff the company had 900 more pilots and crew than it needed.
Ryanair has threatened to fire 100 pilots in Spain, according to the SEPLA Spanish pilots union.
In a statement SEPLA said: “Our group is nervous and fed up with the continued abuse by Ryanair. We are going to show them that we are willing to do everything possible to avoid these unnecessary dismissals.”
