French tourist arrested in Spain after British woman ‘raped and threatened with drowning’ on popular resort beach

A YOUNG British woman has claimed she was raped on the beach in Spain by a French tourist who ‘threatened to drown her if she resisted.’

The 22-year-old had been staying at the same four-star hotel in Magaluf as her alleged attacker, who reportedly filmed the assault and posted it online.

The British holidaymaker had alleged in a statement to police the Frenchman threatened to drown her in the sea if she resisted. 

However the suspect later told officers no filming had taken place and claimed the pair had ‘consensual sex.’

A spokesman for the Civil Guard said: ‘A French national has been arrested on suspicion of raping a British woman on the beach in Magaluf.’

This latest incident comes after an 18-year-old British girl also alleged she was raped at the resort.

The teenager has reportedly been unable to provide police with details of the attack and was unable to give a detailed description of her attacker.

Police are investigating.
