A SCHOOLGIRL’S sketch has led to her mum’s arrest after it depicted a violent torrent of abuse with a belt.
Teachers at a school in Marbella recovered the heartbreaking drawing penned by an 11-year-old pupil.
Also surrounding the cartoon-like character on the page, is the word, volare, meaning ‘I will fly’.
Scrawled on diary paper, the picture shows a small girl, next to which the words, ‘blood’, ‘bruise’ and ‘with a leash’ are written.
After teachers handed the shocking pictures over to police, the girl’s mum was arrested, as well as another woman with an eight-year-old daughter.
The teachers said they feared for the girl’s life and claimed that a mark on her thigh indicated abuse.
An investigation by the Family and Women Unit (UFAM) then found that the injury could have been caused by being whipped with a belt.
The woman, who is Morrocan, and the other mother, an Ecuadorian, are both accused of psychological and physical mistreatment.
According to Diario Sur sources, the Moroccan woman did admit to gently disciplining her child, who she said had lied and stolen money from her.
