British heatstroke victim in ‘serious condition’ after being airlifted to hospital in Spain

A British man has been airlifted to hospital in Spain after he collapsed with heatstroke.

The unnamed hiker’s condition has been described as ‘serious’ after Spanish mountaineers found him critically ill near Erratzu in the Western Pyrenees’ Baztan valley.

Air ambulance took the Brit to the Navarra Hospital Complex in Pamplona after his condition took a turn for the worst and he fell unconscious.

It comes as soaring temperatures across Europe saw the deaths of four people across Spain and France.

Meanwhile Spanish emergency services have been battling huge wildfires across the country.
