One hospitalised as roaring chemical plant fire in San Roque is brought under control

THE roaring fire at a chemical plant in the Campo de Gibraltar has been brought under control.

According to the Junta, the Indorama factory has ensured authorities that the flames have remained inside a warehouse where additives were stored for the manufacturing of plastic.

The regional government has urged locals to remain calm and follow the advice of official sources only.

It also advised people to close doors and windows to prevent the potentially harmful smoke from entering homes.

It comes after one person was rushed to La Linea hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Two makeshift intensive care units have been set up near to the site in case any of the 100 personnel battling the blaze need medical attention.

No one else has been injured at this stage.

Green groups have advised residents near to the flames to lock up their homes and even wear face masks if they can.
