Murdered mother of five in Andalucia becomes Spain’s 1,000th gender violence victim

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Police after the body of Ana Lucia de Silva was discovered

A MOTHER of five murdered in Andalucia has become the thousandth woman to be killed in Spain as a result of domestic violence.

Ana Lucia de Silva’s body had been discovered at her flat in Valdeolleros, Cordoba next to that of her partner and alleged killer, Salvador Ramirez.

Ramirez, 45, had been jailed in 2002 for murdering his first wife, 22-year-old Amanda del Carmen.

Despite being sentenced to 17 years, Ramirez had been released early for good behaviour.

He had reportedly signed up to a program against gender violence while in prison.

VICTIM: Ana Lucia de Silva

The Junta has confirmed Da Silva has joined the long list of women who have been murdered by their partner since 2003, when official records began.

Friends of Da Silva, who moved to Spain from Brazil last year, described her as a ‘very good and trusting’ person who ‘always had a smile.’

Da Silva’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise €5,700 to repatriate her body to Brazil.
