Guardia Civil officer accused of aiding smuggling of illegal goods into Spain from Gibraltar

A GUARDIA Civil officer has been arrested for allegedly facilitating the smuggling of illegal goods into Spain.

The officer was one of six arrested in an operation in La Linea de la Concepcion on Thursday.

The unnamed officer was stationed in the customs office of the border town.

Authorities believe they had a working relationship with illegal tobacco smuggling network and allowed contraband to regularly go through unchallenged.
