A NEW Celine Dion biopic will be shot on the Costa del Sol this summer, it has been announced.
The Power of Love tells the life story of the Canadian singer, who bagged an Oscar for singing My Heart Will Go On in Titanic.
With a budget of €23 million, Sevilla’s Aralan Films will employ a 150-person production team for filming in Malaga.
French actor Valerie Lemercier stars in and directs the movie, which also uses locations in the USA, Canada and France, and premieres in 2020.
The story begins with the birth of Celine Marie Claudette Dion in Quebec in 1968, and chronicles the singer’s rise to fame as a teenager.
It also depicts the role of Dion’s collaborator Canadian artist, Rene Angelil, who later became her husband until his death in 2016.
Malaga’s outdoor locations, which will feature heavily in the film, are also currently hosting three Netflix productions, including Warrior Nun, Toy Boy and Malaka.
The renowned Aralan Films won a best picture at the Malaga Film Festival for their 2012 drama, Los niños salvajes.
