WATCH: Man arrested for trying to sell an elephant’s foot disguised as a stool on social media

A MAN has been arrested for trying to sell an elephant’s foot disguised as a stool on the Costa Blanca.

The Guardia Civil saw the foot advertised on social media, and contacted the seller, a 41-year-old man of Bulgarian nationality.

The Guardia then swooped in on the stool and sent it to the SOIVRE office (Official Service of Inspection, Supervision and Regulation of Exports) in Valencia, where it was verified as an authentic elephant’s foot.

Elephant products are protected under appendix I of the CITES international protection convention.

The man has been arrested for obstructing the protection of flora and fauna.
