Disabled British man found unconscious after ‘intense’ gas cylinder inferno on the Costa Blanca

SERIOUS: Neighbours were asked to vacate the area until the fire could be controlled

A BRITISH man has been hospitalised in a ‘serious condition’ after he was found unconscious at his Costa Blanca home.

Firefighters were reportedly called at 4.30pm to the house in Torrevieja, which was ‘destroyed’ by ‘intense flames’, and found the 55-year-old with one of two butane cylinders in the kitchen on fire.

He was taken immediately to the University Hospital of Torrevieja where he is being treated.

The man reportedly had only one leg.

The blaze was so dangerous that neighbours were asked to vacate the area until it could be brought under control.

An investigation is still underway to determine what caused the fire.
