THE leader of Vox in Lleida has been arrested for sexual assault of disabled children in Spain.
José Antonio Ortiz Cambray is accused of abusing one minor with a severe disability and police believe there may be at least three more victims.
The far-right politician is believed to have paid the child, at disabled centre, ‘Aspros Foundation’, a sum of about €5 for acts including oral sex.
Ortiz was cuffed by police in the Catalunyan city on Tuesday at a local car dealership.
Staff at the centre notified the authorities about the sexually explicit messages from Ortiz after they noticed the child acting strangely.
Police are now investigating to see if there are more victims and to see if there is more evidence on computers and tablets.
Vox has issued a statement in which it says Ortiz has been ‘suspended’ until ‘the facts are clarified or a well-founded decision can be made’.
The alleged abuser came to power for Vox in the 2016 Senate elections in Spain.
He is now being held in a cell at Mossos police station.
