THE rescuers have returned to the well after carrying out the fourth controlled explosion to reach two-year-old Julen.

It is believed they were around 60cm away from the location where they calculate Julen is stuck, when the impenetrable rock blocked their efforts.

After carrying out the fourth controlled explosion of the day to perforate the strong quartzite rock blocking the tunnel, the digging has resumed.

A spokesperson has announced that it will be more effective for the team which reaches Julen first, to carry him out of the well.

It had previously been stated that the Guardia Civil would go down and rescue him once found.
