THIS is the moment a forest fire shut down traffic on the Costa del Sol.

The 30-second clips show smoke bellowing from the flames adjacent to the A-7 motorway near the Palacio de Congresos in Torremolinos.

Guardia Civil officers can be seen closing off an exit as hundreds of cars come to a standstill.

Some 18 firefighters and a helicopter have been sent to the flames, which have engulfed land on both sides of the motorway.

The dense cloud of smoke can be seen in Malaga while traffic has been cut off at the 227 km mark.
