police search

A POLICEMAN from Malaga has been missing since Saturday night after being swept away by an overflowing stream in Sevilla.

The hero cop was rescuing a driver who had become trapped in their car just before 10pm in Guillena.

While the driver was rescued, the Guardia Civil agent was swept away by the strength of the Galapar stream.

Firemen, Policia Local and Emergency Group (GREA) have all been looking for the officer since.

The agent is a native of Málaga and has been serving in Sevilla for many years.

The city has seen several overflowing rivers and streams after witnessing extremely heavy rainfall over the weekend.

The town of El Saucejo notified 112 that it would be activating its Municipal Emergency Plan (PEM) for flooding.
