Drought restrictions in Malaga lifted after Storm Emma brings rain

A DROUGHT crisis has been averted as a year’s worth of rain fell in Malaga over the last few days.

Restrictions that were set to be put into place in April, have now been lifted, after reservoirs were filled  250 cubic hectometres – 45 more than the previous week, marking a 22.5% increase.

Farmers in the area may now see a relaxation of rules, following five years of below average rainfall.

Experts have stated the duration of rain has meant the water has had time to soak into the ground instead of running off.
