Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia visit Costa del Sol

THE King and Queen of Spain paid a visit to the Costa del Sol today for an official engagment.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia visited Malaga’s Pompidou Centre modern art gallery to present this year’s Gold Medals of Merit in the Fine Arts.

The awards honour people and institutions who excel in art and culture each year.

The royal couple presented the prizes in front of around 300 guests, including Spanish Education Minister Iñigo Mendez de Vigo and Junta chief Susana Diaz.

Felipe, 50, described Malaga as a ‘beloved city,’ and said he hoped the link with the Pompidou Centre ‘remains a beautiful reality for many years to come.’

Laurence Dollimore
