CHAOS: Troops called in in Madrid

SPAIN’S crisis committee was forced to meet this morning after weather forecasts predicted temperatures as low as -12C.

The meeting in Barcelona aimed to create a plan to secure road, train and air travel as much as possible during the cold front affecting the whole country.

It came after AEMET predicted lows of -12C in more northern areas.

The weather agency did warn of widespread frost throughout Spain.

The south coast and the Canary Islands are thought to be spared from the sub-zero onslaught.
