Housing sales increase by 20% in Spain

HOUSING sales boomed by almost 20% in Spain last year.

The month of November saw a 18.1% increase in sales, compared to the same month in 2016, the statistics office (INE) reported yesterday.

Some 40,579 transactions were registered in the 11th month of the year, with sales of second-hand houses rising by 15.8% in November year-on-year to 33,100 and sales of new houses increasing by 29.8% to a total of 7,479.

Sales of second-hand houses represented 81.6% of the total while sales of new houses represented 18.4% of the total.

Housing sales have been rising for seven consecutive months on a year-on-year basis.
