New ‘smart-surveillance’ cameras installed on Spain’s roads

guardia-civil-traficoNEW high-tech speed cameras are being rolled out across Spain to keep a closer watch on the country’s drivers.

As well as detecting if a seatbelt is being worn, the cameras will also be able to check cars’ ITV details as well as checking road safety.

The first of the new ‘smart-surveillance’ cameras has been installed on the motorway between Torre del Mar and Velez-Malaga.

  1. They probably mean the camera is positioned on a bridge on the A7 where the N340a passes under it. Probably better to describe the motorway (autovia) as BISECTING the road between Velez and Torre. Still be as well to belt up anyway…
