holiday tourism spainSPAIN has been named the best holiday destination in the world among sun-seeking Brits.

An On the Beach survey of 1,000 Brits put Spain in pole position in the ‘best overall’ category, garnering 19% of the vote.

Italy was a close second with 15% and France, while the most visited, was third with 9%.

Alistair Daly, Chief Marketing Officer at On the Beach said:

“Spain really is the big winner in the survey, hitting the top spot in all but one category.

“Spain is set to welcome more holidaymakers than ever before this year.”

The Iberian favourite also clinched the ‘best night out’ category, with one in four holidaymakers choosing it as their number one place to party.

And just to drive the point home, Spain also won the ‘friendliest locals’ and ‘best beaches’ categories.

The only category it did not win was best food, where it came second place to Italy, who garnered 25% of the vote.
