THE NHS is aiming to hire hundreds of new GPs from Spain to tackle a recruitment crisis.
NHS England is working with recruitment firms to set up language and training centres for 500 GPs in the hope of plugging a gap in the number of British-based GPs.
Successful applicants will learn about the NHS and receive help with housing and finding schools.
Britain currently has 2.8 GPs per 1,000 people, whereas the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) world average is 3.2.
