Spain hopes to open new fishing markets in far east and the US

new fishing marketsSPAIN is hoping to open new fishery markets in China, India and the US.

Secretary-General of Fisheries Andres Hermida said China and India are attractive because of the sheer volume of growing customers, while the US market expects a higher quality, something that Spain can deliver.

He was speaking at the Seafood Expo Globo in Brussels, one of the world’s largest fish fairs, where Spain fielded more than 1,800 exhibitors.

Laurence Dollimore

Laurence Dollimore is a Spanish-speaking, NCTJ-trained journalist with almost a decade’s worth of experience.
The London native has a BA in International Relations from the University of Leeds and and an MA in the same subject from Queen Mary University London.

  1. As they have virtually fished out their own waters, whose waters are they going to loot now. They wiped out all the mackerel in UK waters when Cornish traitors sold their licences to them. They are bullying the Moroccans and doing the same there – so where.
