KING Felipe has refused to call Spain’s political parties together to discuss a new government deal.
The monarch’s decision follows the Socialist PSOE leader Pedro Sanchez’s failure to secure enough support in Friday’s second investiture vote.
A press release from the royal household said the wait was to ‘allow the political parties to take the steps that they believe to be necessary’.
Spain has been without a government since no party managed to secure a majority at the general election on December 20
A two-month period of negotiations will now start with fresh elections to follow in June if the current stalemate cannot be overcome.
