A MARBELLA postie is facing the letter of the law after burning post for six months.
The unnamed Correos worker torched more than 3,000 pieces of undelivered mail, Marbella court has heard.
He could now face up to four years in jail if found guilty of negligence.
It doesn’t get better for those waiting on mail in Valencia either, with another postman arrested for stealing 3,2000 pieces of mail over the last decade.
If Correos aren’t losing your post, or can’t find your house, they’re burning it! I dealt with two online sellers this week for Christmas presents, and neither would use Correos to ship the items, which tells you a lot about it.
Over the years we lived in Spain, I read lots of negative things about Correos, maybe the Gods (Celtic) smiled upon us but having lived in Ortigueria/Galicia and Guadix/Andalucia we never experienced anything but a first class postal service.
Could it be that this is true of smaller communities, I don’t know. I do know that when we moved to Ortigueria, the postman actually called to introduce himself, this way he knew all the people he would be delivering mail to and if we were’nt in he would leave it with our friends downstairs.
Same in Guadix, where we found their computerised system faultless and got to know all the staff – some of the postwomen were very tasty – oh to have been younger and single – esta la vida.
