Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy in Paris climate change vow

Mariano RajoyMARIANO Rajoy has pledged to adopt a raft of green measures ahead of December’s crucial Paris world climate change conference.

Pledging to cut Spain’s carbon emissions by 40% by 2030, the Spanish prime minister expressed his belief that a global deal could be cut between the 196 countries at the summit.

Rajoy also pledged Spain would double the annual funds given to developing countries to 900 million euros to help them become more green.

World leaders are hoping to strike a new deal to replace the Kyoto Protocol in Paris.
