THE judge investigating the ongoing ERE slush fund scandal has finally opened a case against two ex-Junta presidents.

Maria Nunez will probe the exact involvement of former leaders Manuel Chaves and Jose Antonio Grinan in the two billion euro-plus fraud.

She is to investigate whether the ex-leaders, plus 50 other senior bosses, were directly involved in the theft of EU grants to stimulate employment and help ailing companies between 2001 and 2010.
