THE percentage of Spanish people who smoke every day has fallen from 26.2% in 2009 to 23% in 2014.
The figures, published by Spanish data organisation the INE, showed 2.4% of Spaniards are occasional smokers, 25.7% are ex-smokers and the remaining 49% have never smoked.
The two groups with the largest amounts of daily smokers were men aged 25-34 (35.1%) and women aged 45-54 (26.1%).
Among young people aged 15-24 the number of daily smokers was 18.5%.
