A SPANISH religious group has been awarded a prestigious medical award for its role in treating Ebola patients in Africa.
Granada-based, Roman Catholic group The Hospitaller Order of St. John of God has claimed Spain’s Princess of Asturias humanitarian award for its work in Sierra Leone and Liberia.
The order was founded in Granada in 1563 and has 350 centres spread across 53 countries.
The award was one of eight Asturias prizes handed out, all of which come with a €50,000 cash prize.
