Nerja offers dog therapy programme from the elderly

ELDERLY residents in Nerja are being urged to join a new therapy programme involving man’s best friend.

So far ten local residents have benefitted from the scheme, which aims to cheer up older locals through the socialising with dogs.

Psychologists have long cited the benefits of canine company for elderly residents.

They say it can lead to a rise in self-esteem, and a reduction in anxiety and depression.
