A SPANIARD has landed one of the most coveted jobs of the art world.
From humble beginnings as a curator at the National Gallery in London, Dr Gabriele Finaldi will return as its Director.
Dr Finaldi, 49, has been Deputy Director for Collections and Research at Madrid’s Prado Museum since 2002. He will take over the top London job from current Director Nicholas Penny in August.
Prime Minister David Cameron has confirmed the appointment and Dr Finaldi said he was ‘eagerly looking forward’ to working at the world–class collection.
