UPDATE: Madrid bomb scare a hoax

POLICE have confirmed the bomb scare at Madrid’s Atocha train station was a hoax.

The station had been evacuated and bomb disposal protocols had been put in place, after a man carrying a rucksack announced that he was going to commit suicide.

The man was arrested by police and bomb disposal experts found ‘no trace’ of explosives in his rucksack.

The station remains closed at the moment, but is expected to re-open today.
