A CRIMINAL gang of 17 men has been smashed by the National Police following the attempted robbery of a luxury home in Velez-Malaga.
The gang – composed of members of two different criminal groups who believed they would make around €20 million from the raid – had been tailed by police before the arrests.
The ringleader, a Spanish national of Colombian origin, fed the gang key information of the home’s layout, security systems, and the owners movements.
Five men were arrested in Velez-Malaga, six in Antequera, five in Torremolinos, and one other in Madrid.
Police seized four vehicles, €1535, foreign currency and high-tech equipment used for criminal activities.
