SPAIN has a new favourite export to the United States, and it’s not olive oil.
It’s teachers!
The Government of Oklahoma is recruiting staff from Spain to teach the language and culture of their homeland in public schools.
The imported teachers are awarded annual contracts on the same wages as resident teachers, and have the opportunity to renew up to two times.
Other states have done the same for more than 25 years as a way to enrich their language programmes.
