KING Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited Portugal on 8 June on an official invitation from President Anibal Cavaco Silva.
Cavaco Silva – who welcomed the royal pair to Lisbon – was delivering on a promise made at Felipe’s proclamation to host the new king’s first official visit to his Iberian neighbour.
The two leaders held a press conference where they explained Portugal and Spain have ‘special’ friendship ties and common interests in EU and Latin American politics.
