Balenciaga Shipyard is awarded contracts to build new boats

Balenciaga shipyard

A SPANISH boatyard has been awarded a 75million euros contract to build six new vessels on behalf of Scottish shipping services firm Craig Group.

The family-owned Balenciaga Shipyard, in the Basque region, has selected the northern Spain shipyard to produce the six emergency response and rescue boats which will be used to exploit the booming oil and gas activity in UK and Norwegian waters.

The group has an existing contractual arrangement with the shipyard, and the vessels will be sisters to those built by the yard already in service in the North Sea.
