Nerja’s mayor accused of deceiving public

Nerja mayor Jose Alberto Armijo

OPPOSITION bosses have accused Nerja’s mayor of deceiving the public over funding for its planned water treatment plant.

PSOE leader Luis Pena questioned how Nerja mayor Jose Alberto Armijo could award a €19 million contract for a project initially budgeted at €40 million.

Some experts estimate the final cost for the sewage works – the last on the Costa del Sol – could spiral to as much as €80 million.
