BREASTFEEDING mothers have come together for a synchronised ‘Big Latch On’ in Gibraltar.
The 23 mums gathered at Cafe Solo in Casemates Square to show their support for World Breastfeeding Week, which is celebrated around the globe each August.
“I am very happy with the turnout for the event,” organiser Tamsin Suarez told the Olive Press.
“Breastfeeding requires patience and support for the mum and social acceptance to become the norm.
“The benefits to mum and baby are enormous and extend throughout the child’s entire life.
“The more it is promoted the greater the numbers of mums that attempt to breastfeed. It is especially important in Gibraltar, which has a high child obesity rate.”
