Welcome to Cortijo Putin, comrades!

RUSSIAN Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is rumoured to be buying a property in Marbella.

The former president is reported to be keen to snap up a mansion in Andalucia’s most exclusive development, La Zagaleta, in Benahavis.

According to a Spanish gossip magazine Vanitatis, he has been looking at a ‘luxury’ home in the estate, where house prices begin at five million euros.

His new neighbours would include the ex-Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov as well as actor Hugh Grant who is said to have a home there.

Putin will need to win the favour of his new neighbours first though, with residents previously having voted to keep out famous names including David Beckham.

Local agent Adam Neale of Terra Meridiana said: “The rumours have been flying around for months and are, as yet, unsubstantiated. It is not impossible to believe, but clearly it is good for business.”
